The Liberté Big Band was founded in 2013 by composer and pianist Liberté-Anne Lymberiou. This modern 17-piece orchestra plays compositions by Lymberiou and her contemporaries. Through Liberté-Anne's compositions and the phenomenal musicians making up the band, the Liberté Big Band captures the spontaneity and unpredictability of jazz through extended compositions. The moods of the music swing as much as the rhythms do, and inevitably move audiences, both inside and out.
Due to an absurd string of events and less than friendly immigration services, the band has been forced since February to perform without their leader. Loyal to the cause, the band continues to perform in Liberté-Anne's absence, and await her unforeseeable return from her native land of Montreal, Canada.
